Rico Stehfest

Journalist & Editor

Culture and the Third Sector: These are the two main fields I revel in journalistically. Locally, regional, nationwide and internationally.

Spoken theatre, dance, ballet and performance. Literature, movies and fine arts. That is what my heart beats for.

Reviews, portraits, reportages, previews or cultural-political opinion pieces and interviews. Print, online and radio: I’m there for it. For more than 25 years now. Nonprofit organisations and foundations. Fundraising and donations. Social entrepreneurship and crowdfunding. For almost 15 years now.

Editing in all its details, topic identification, research and authorial support are part of my everyday life just as is writing itself.

You see: Jack of all trades!

Knowledge Transfer & Presentation

My experiences of 25 years in journalism I also happily share as speaker and instructor of hands-on workshops, introducing participants to the art of journalistic writing or PR. And all of that without a single ppt slide.

I also enjoy presenting and moderating. Artist talk, fish bowl or panel discussion. Speaking means listening just as well.

For several years now I’ve also been campaigning for the nationwide association of dance journalists TANZ.media, since 2023 as member of the board. I do so because we all want to be able to rely on respectable journalism as part of our democracy even tomorrow (and the day after).

Copywriting & Translation

German and English studies up my sleeve. Journalist and Copywriter. I’m familiar with all sides, parties and points of view. And I’m aware: That needs craftsmenship. A detailed company profile, a booklet or brochure for your next campaign or project or simply target group-specific marketing material? No problem! Those who haven’t mastered the skills of writing will not be able to do so by means of AI. I do have the sprachgefühl and sensitivity ChatGPT does not provide and never will. Communication cannot be represented by machines. That’s why I translate English texts into German (and vice versa) myself. AI does it faster. I’m better.
